You've stolen my heart

I went on my first assignment as a photojournalist yesterday and it was surreal! I was using a Canon 1D! And I felt like an investigator trying to find clues and solve a crime. I reached the place where I was assigned to shoot photos but when I went there after class, all the school kids were gone! I was telling myself, so this is it huh? First assignment and I have nothing to hand in to the paper. So I asked for a contact number and I called but no one picked up. Then I walked out of the auditorium and saw a long yellow school bus parked by the curb. I walked past it, feeling a little confused what am I supposed to do and where am I supposed to find the kids, I know they're not gone yet. So I mustered a tiny bit of courage, walked to the bus and tapped at the glass door. A black man, opened the door and I asked if he knew where are the school kids. He had thick Jamaican accent. So you can imagine him speaking like "Yo mahn, wassup?". He was very helpful and directed me to Pershing Center.

To cut the long story short, the kids weren't in Pershing Center. I found them in the end and took pictures of them. But guess what happened next? My camera ran out of battery. I charged the battery yesterday at the newspaper's office. But I didn't charge up I guess. So I ran back to my room to get my comparatively puny camera and took some shot. And the battery died again! So I went back again to get my spare battery. So at the end of the ordeal, I'd been lugging two heavy cameras for an hour and a half and taken only a few pictures because I was so noob I didn't know what would make a good picture. And I didn't ask for names except for one fella. Sigh.

But the paper ran the picture on the front page this morning. I guess the Math Day was big news and they didn't have anything better from me. I'm so noob!

On the brighter side, I woke up on the right side of the bed today. The usual gloominess is non-existent. Hmmmm.
