Casey and I headed out early yesterday morning and took the 9am bus up north to Penang Island. As we neared the destination, rain began pouring outside our coach and at that moment, I regretted for not bringing my umbrella along.

When we arrived at Terminal Bus Sg. Nibong, the rain subsided and we happily skipped (nah, not really) outside the terminal in search for a mister cabbie to take us to Old Penang Guesthouse. The first driver quoted us RM 25 for a 10km ride and we went for the second who asked for RM18.
When we finally reached Love Lane where our guesthouse is, we were excited and were greeted by a really friendly uncle. I checked out our dorm and it was as pleasant as I could remember it to be from the pictures on hostelworld.com.

The dorm 7 of us will be sleeping in

The only guest who stays for free

Lucky doing big business

Whilst waiting for the other 5 fellas, Casey suggested that we have a light snack.

Hainanese style noodles recommended by the boss

While looking for the other 5

We found out they were eating without us!

In this cramped but authentic Penang coffeeshop.

RM 2.60. Fresh wantans wrapped in the stall.

Our first Penang char kuey teow!

They were looking for FTZ, Penang branch; a famous cyber cafe in front of college on GoogleMap. Cyber cafe! On a holiday! =.="

Stop at Ghee Hiang Confectionary.

We found it, somehow.

They told me to smell the great CC air. Lol.

While they were busy dota-ing, I walked around the hawker centers on Macalister Road.

Dinner: More char kuey teow. Fried oysters and curry mee.
After the hawker fare, we decided to go across to try the bullfrog with porridge; Singapore style from Geylang. At least that's what the sign says. Not as good as I thought it was. We tried the kung po and ginger and spring onion style and the sauce tasted like a mixture of dark soy sauce, sesame seed oil, and water. Very un-gastronomic, so no mood to take pictures of it.

Passed by a mall and sat down

Our night ended with this satisfying road side tong sui stall. Mine's just gingko.
